Angels & Demons

Sometimes I wonder,

Why I know more about demons than angels,

Don't fear the lightning and thunder,

And feel more alive in danger.

I suppose it is because all of us have darkness inside of us,

it festers and grows, and so few of us learn to embrace it.

Without darkness, how would we learn to love the light?

Without our demons, would we ever learn to put up a fight?

Demons are feared, when they should be accepted,

For there is beauty in darkness if you linger long enough to find it.

Light and dark, do not always represent good and bad,

for bad things are just as likely to be hiding in plain sight,

as they are lurking in the darkness.

Angels are mighty creatures, but as cold as marble statues

With destructive powers,

hiding behind their beautiful wings.

Demons are cold-blooded creatures, but they are often associated with fire,

Their powers could destroy the world,

all because you were so afraid to face them.

Can we really compare them?

These two mighty creatures, who are equally likely to destroy our world,

And yet, we prefer one over the other,

Never knowing the true extent of either of their powers.

The lesson here is my friends,

Live in the light, yet learn to accept the darkness,

for you never know,

when your angels turn to demons, ready to snuff out all that shines
